Frieda Gordon has presented with some of her colleagues several two-day seminars for certified family law specialists from all over the State of California. She has spoken on the topic of "Valuing Minority Business Interests for Purposes of Divorce" and on the issue of "Joint Legal Custody-When is it Not a Good Idea" at Annual Spring Seminars for the ACFLS (of which organization she served as President in 2003) in Monterey, California. Frieda Gordon was quoted on the front page of the May 22, 2000 issue of the L.A. Times in an article about an appellate court case in which she represented the minor child who was the subject of a dispute between her mother and paternal grandparents over the right to visit with her and recently was featured in the reported case of Butler v. Harris, 2004 DJ DAR 10465 (Aug. 23, 2004) as the drafter of the Amicus Curiae brief on behalf of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists, supporting the position of the grandparents who asked the Supreme Court to consider the rights of the minor child along with the competing interests of the custodial parents and paternal grandparents.
Frieda Gordon spoke at the Annual International Conference of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts in New Orleans, LA on the subject of grandparents' visitation rights. Frieda also spoke in Seattle, WA at an AFCC Conference in the Spring of 2005 to therapists, evaluators, mediators, lawyers and judges on the subject of International Abductions to Non-Hague Countries - Risks and Remedies. In January of 2006, Frieda spoke on the same topic to another national audience of lawyers at the National Continuing Legal Education Seminar in Aspen, CO. In April, 2006, Frieda spoke before the statewide Association of Certified Family Law Specialists on the cutting edge topic of Assisted Reproductive Technologies Families' Rights and Remedies. Frieda Gordon was in charge of an all day interdisciplinary seminar, sponsored by the L.A. County Bar Association, involving judicial officers, psychological experts and family law specialists on the hot and controversial topic of "Minor's Counsel in Family Law."
