Dolan, Charles E.

David Giordano is a senior associate in the firm's Intellectual Property Department. He joined the firm in 2005.

Practice

Mr. Giordano's practice focuses on patent prosecution, litigation, and counseling in the fields of chemistry, pharmaceuticals, biologicals, formulations, materials sciences, medical devices, and nutraceuticals. He prosecutes patents before the United States Patent Office and throughout the world for a broad array of clients, ranging from individual inventors to large multinational corporations.

Mr. Giordano's litigation experience spans technologies from active pharmaceutical ingredients and medical devices to consumer products and mobile phone technologies. He has experience developing strategies relating to validity and infringement. Mr. Giordano also has experience drafting legal memoranda, drafting discovery, working with experts, and preparing witnesses to testify at depositions and trial.

Mr. Giordano also has a variety of counseling experience. He has counseled clients regarding their consumer products, chemical manufacturing processes and semiconductor manufacturing processes. He has also counseled clients regarding the impact of new legislation on their intellectual property rights.

At Boston College Law School, Mr. Giordano served as the Articles Chair of the Intellectual Property and Technology Forum. Prior to his legal studies, he was a business analyst at a strategy consulting firm conducting research and providing client feedback on market performance for the insurance and technology industries. As an undergraduate, Mr. Giordano interned with Millennium Pharmaceuticals, where he performed DNA research and testing.

Professional Activities

Mr. Giordano is a member of the Boston Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Boston Patent Law Association.

Community Involvement

Mr. Giordano is a Director of Parkway in Motion, Inc. a community organization in Roslindale and West Roxbury. He is also a member of the local Advisory Board and Transition Team for MLP|Boston.

Honors and Awards

Mr. Giordano was the recipient of the firm's first Pickering fellowship in Boston, established in honor of John H. Pickering. He spent his fellowship with The Medical-Legal Partnership for Children at Boston Medical Center, where he worked with pediatric clinicians to ensure that families can meet their children's basic needs, including food, housing, education and safety.

Mr. Giordano was also one of four recipients of the 2007 WilmerHale Volunteer Award.  The award recognizes members of the firm for their hard work and dedication on behalf of WilmerHale's Youth and Education Initiative (YEI).
