Richard V. Rappaport came to the field of law with a multi-faceted background. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in History from the University of Vermont. He pursued a Master of Science in Education from Hofstra University after which he spent several years teaching at the secondary level. Mr. Rappaport also earned a Master of Business Administration from Pace University in Labor-Management Relations, graduating with honors. He studied law at Brooklyn Law School and graduated in 1977 and has been in practice since 1979.
Mr. Rappaport concentrates in the areas of Labor and Employment law. He is admitted to the New York State Bar as well as Federal Courts including the United States Supreme Court, the United States Military Court of Appeals, the United States Court of Federal Claims, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts.
Mr. Rappaport has argued successfully before the highest Court in New York State, the Court of Appeals, and that decision has been the law in New York since the decision in 1989. In addition, he has done presentations and speeches for the Bar Associations and written articles for various publications. He has also made appearances on television and radio shows in connection with his field of expertise. Mr. Rappaport has also been an instructor in the paralegal programs of Adelphi University and New York Institute of Technology and has lectured before various legal and community organizations.
