Laura E. Gillis is a Special Education attorney and mother of four children, it was through personal experience with her own children that Laura found her calling in education law. She graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1994 and cum laude from the New England School of Law in 1997. Laura is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Women's Bar Association, Coalition of Parent Attorneys and Advocates and the Special Needs Advocacy Network.
Laura provides IEP review and feedback, assistance with letter writing for parents, attendance at TEAM meetings, negotiation of out of district placements, change of placement, school discipline (children on IEPs have due process for discipline), and BSEA hearings or mediation when necessary.
Laura's goal is to provide parents with information so that they can help their children with special needs make the most of their education and to do so in a compassionate and understanding way.
Laura is a dedicated mother and athlete. When she is not attending an event for one of her children, she can be found training for triathlons, teaching spin class, participating in a women's basketball league or skiing.
