Dickinson, Laurence M.

Gianna Ravenscroft is a counsel in the firm's Regulatory and Government Affairs Department, and a member of the Financial Institutions Practice Group. She joined WilmerHale in 2005.

Practice

Ms. Ravenscroft's practice focuses primarily in the financial services and bank regulatory areas, whereby she counsels clients on compliance with the rules, regulations and guidance of the Federal Reserve Board (FRB); the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC); the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS); the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC); the Federal Trade Commission (FTC); and State banking and financial regulatory agencies.

Ms. Ravenscroft advises financial institution clients regularly in various types of transactions, including bank mergers and acquisitions. She has represented clients with federal and state bank merger applications, holding company applications, foreign bank branch applications, US bank filings and foreign bank filings. Ms. Ravenscroft also counsels domestic and foreign banking clients on the nature and extent of permissible activities and investments that may be conducted in the US.

Additionally, Ms. Ravenscroft has represented clients in various matters involving FTC statutes and rules, including section five of the FTC Act, the Commission's rule concerning the Use of Prenotification Negative Option Plans, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

Prior to joining WilmerHale, Ms. Ravenscroft served as a staff attorney with the FDIC in the Consumer Compliance Unit of the Supervision and Legislation Section, where her practice focused on issues involving consumer protection, privacy, electronic banking and data security. Ms. Ravenscroft also participated in the FDIC Honors Attorney Program, where her practice included work in the regulatory, enforcement, receivership and litigation areas. While at the FDIC, Ms. Ravenscroft also acted as a lead attorney at the closing of a national bank.

As part of her pro bono practice, Ms. Ravenscroft has worked with the DC Bar Pro Bono Program Advice and Referral Clinic.

Prior to her legal career, she was a portfolio administrator with H.D. Vest Financial Services in Irving, Texas.

Professional Activities

Ms. Ravenscroft is a member of both the American Bar Association and the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia.
