Rob Ransom was born in Michigan and raised in West Virginia . His father was a judge for 25 years while his mother went to work for private lawyers and a series of state and federal judges. Rob graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan in 1985, then obtained his law degree from the University of South Carolina in 1988. Fresh out of law school, he went to work for the 25 member Wise & Cole law firm in Charleston, South Carolina before founding Leventis & Ransom in 1997 and moving to Columbia in 2001. Over the years, Rob has been active with the South Carolina Bar, serving on its Ethics Advisory Committee, and with the South Carolina Association of Trial Lawyers, recently serving on its Legislative Steering and Amicus Curae Committees. Rob has also been a member of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute, the American Judicature Society, and served as a Special Municipal Court Judge for the City of Goose Creek, South Carolina. He is admitted to practice in all South Carolina local, county, state and federal courts and is also admitted to practice in United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Judicial Circuit located in Richmond, Virginia . Outside of the law, for many years during the 1990s, Rob held a racing license with the United States Cycling Federation and has ridden bicycles and competed in races all across the United States and France.
