Phillip M. George was born and raised in Marshall County, Tennessee. He graduated from Marshall County High School and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Middle Tennessee State University, majoring in pre-law. He graduated from Nashville School of Law and was licensed to practice on April 22, 1985. While attending school, he worked as a law clerk at the law firm of Parker, Nichol, and Finley in Nashville, Tennessee, where he gained valuable litigation experience in the state and federal courts, particularly in the areas of insurance defense, general business litigation, and plaintiff's work. During law school, he also worked as a subrogation specialist for the Insurance Company of North America, handling claims and direction of attorneys throughout Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi.
For the past 24 years, Mr. George has practiced in the town of Smyrna handling contested and uncontested divorces and child custody matters, juvenile matters, adoptions, and step-parent adoptions. He has represented clients from all walks of life. In addition to representing individuals, he has represented many small businesses, corporate airlines, health care providers, and corporations. He has incorporated a number of entities and has continued to provide legal services and advice on an as-needed basis.
He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in countless personal injury and property damage claims and has won awards totaling millions of dollars for clients who have been injured in accidents and on the job.
He has extensive litigation experience in Worker's Compensation matters. He has represented businesses and individuals in various business disputes and employment law disputes.
In order to accommodate his clients in as many areas as possible, for the past four years, his practice has included a growing title company specializing in all types of real estate closings for many different lenders and real estate agents.
Mr. George practices primarily in Rutherford County in General Sessions, Circuit, Chancery, and Juvenile Courts, as well as in all adjoining counties. He has appeared several times before the Tennessee Court of Appeals and the Tennessee Supreme Court, having several reported cases. He has appeared before the United States District Court, Tennessee Claims Commission, the Tennessee Parole Board, Department of Employment Security, National Transportation and Safety Board, local zoning boards and local school boards. Further, he has served as Special Judge in the Smyrna City Court and LaVergne City Court.
