Kevin Purcell is an Attorney at law licensed to practice in the state of Ohio. An Attorney since 1981, Kevin graduated from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. After law school he served for five years as an Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecuting Attorney. Kevin is certified as one of 158 Specialists in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law in the State of Ohio by the Ohio State Bar Association, and his certification has been accepted by the Ohio State Supreme Court's Commission on Certification. He is also certified as an Accredited Veterans' Administration attorney and counsel's clients extensively in the area of Veterans' benefits, Medicaid-eligibility planning, and other areas of asset protection.

After over two decades in the practice of law, Kevin was honored in June of 2007 by gaining formal admission to practice before the United States Supreme Court by the Chief and Associate Justices of the Court.

Recognition

Martidale-Hubbell, the main organization for conducting peer-reviews of attorneys nationwide, awarded Kevin Purcell an "AV" rating, the highest possible rating possible for an attorney. The "A" is based on Kevin scoring a perfect 5.0 out of 5.0 in all five categories of legal knowledge, analytical capacity, judgment, communication abilities, and experience. The "V" is based on Kevin's peers judging that he possesses the "highest ethical standards" in the profession.

Publication

Kevin has authored many publications including a published law review article, Ghosts from the Grave—Inheriting through the Predeceased under Ohio Law, Cleveland Marshall Law Review, 2002-2203, is a contributing author to Advanced Planning Solutions, a national estate planning handbook for attorneys and to a book on estate planning for a major Cleveland estate planning law firm. He is the author of an article How to Put the Counseling Back into the Estate Planning Counselor which appeared in Ohio Lawyer, the Ohio State Bar Association's magazine for its attorney members.

Media

Kevin has also been interviewed numerous times by the media on various estate planning topics including appearances on Cleveland National Public Radio affiliate WCPN's Sound of Ideas and Ohio TV with New York syndicated columnist Michael Sullivan. Associations And Continuing Education Services

Kevin is a founding member of the Ohio Medicaid Academy and Ohio Medicaid Research Council. The former organization works with national-creators of trust document creation systems to make their language conform to the requirements of the Ohio Medicaid law, and the latter entity has electronically researched and compiled the administrative decisions of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services' Medicaid Division concerning Medicaid eligibility for nursing home care in digital format. Kevin is also a member of the National Eldercare Professionals' Community (NEPC), and organization that shares information among various professions whose common mission is assisting our nation's elderly.

Kevin is also a continuing education provider for the Ohio Division of Insurance certified to teach insurance professionals and is registered with the Accountancy Board of Ohio to provide accredited courses for CPAs. Our new office has a workshop learning center. Kevin is available for presentations to your group at our offices or your venue.

Personal

Kevin is widowed and remarried to Patricia Purcell, a nursing instructor at a major northeast Ohio University and has two step-sons, Brandon and Cory. In his free time Kevin kicks back by playing the guitar. Through Adult Guardianship Services, a not-for-profit organization, provides free legal services to individuals volunteering to be guardians for mentally-challenged adults who have no family members or other people to care or provide them companionship. Kevin was also honored to have been chosen in 1995-1996 by Steven Spielberg's Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation to interview the remaining living Americans who were prosecutors at the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials after the fall of Nazi-Germany.
