Scott W. Pohlman, a member partner in Hale Carlson Baumgartner, PLC, practices in the areas of Commercial and Business Law, Franchise Law and Wealth Preservation (Estate Planning). He represents businesses, business owners and individuals in Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York and is licensed to practice in all three states. Prior to joining Hale Carlson Baumgartner, PLC he was a partner in Baumgartner Pohlman, PLC. Before returning to private practice in Virginia he served as General Counsel for a large Washington DC-based commercial sub-contractor. He previously practiced law in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Pohlman serves on the board of LawPact (www.LawPact.org), an international association and network of independent business law firms created to assist member firms in pursuing excellence in: client service, firm management, profitability, the application of evolving technologies and marketing and establishing a trans-national source of known legal colleagues to serve the global legal needs of member firm clients.
Mr. Pohlman has represented a variety of clients during all stages of business development, both start-ups and established businesses. He has guided and worked with companies who have been selected to INC Magazine's Fastest Growing 500 list. Mr. Pohlman has expertise in assisting companies through the acquisition and sale process. His representation includes privately held companies, as well as publicly traded international businesses.
Mr. Pohlman represents a wide variety of businesses, in the following industries: communications, broadcasting, trade associations, construction, medical service providers, non-profits (both charitable and educational), consulting, foodservice, financial services, franchises, equipment rental providers, agriculture and many others. His clients often include businesses with varied ownership structures (single-member or owner organizations; multiple owner organizations and family-owned companies that have successfully transitioned from the founding generation to successive generations of family owners). In addition to his legal experience and expertise, Mr. Pohlman has personally managed large-scale construction projects in the United States and abroad and has worked in and for several family-owned businesses.
In addition to his business entity representation, Mr. Pohlman represents business executives on a personal level, providing guidance and counseling related to their contracting and employment needs, including personal estate planning needs.
