James Curran has been engaged in the practice of law since 1992 and has represented clients in numerous Matrimonial and Family Law matters. Mr. Curran is a member of the Nassau and Suffolk Matrimonial and Family Law Committees as well as the New York State Bar Association Family Law Section. Mr. Curran is a member of Suffolk County Bar Association, Family Court Committee and the Nassau County Bar Association, Family Court Law and Procedure Committee. Mr. Curran is a member of the Early Neutral Evaluation program in the Nassau Supreme Court. He has lectured on both Family Law and Domestic Violence for the Patrol Services and Detective Bureaus of the New York City Police Department. In addition, Mr. Curran has lectured attorneys and investigators for the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children on Domestic Violence and the preparation and trial of custody proceedings. Mr. Curran has appeared as a guest commentator on the BBC Nightly News Hour, the Felder Report, MSNBC and "Metro Law", a cable talk show.
Prior to joining the law firm of MILLER, APFEL & CURRAN PLLC, Mr. Curran was the senior associate and managing attorney at the law firm of Raoul Lionel Felder, P.C. for nine (9) years, whose practice consisted of primarily matrimonial and Family Law Practice. Mr. Curran has conducted both hearings and trials of matrimonial and family law matters as well as argued cases in the Court of Appeals and Appellate Courts in the First, Second and Third Departments.
