Cuddigan, Timothy J.

Brooke Pinkerton is a member of the Litigation/Controversy Department and serves as Deputy General Counsel for the firm. Her primary responsibilities include working with the Ethics Committee and New Business Clearance.

Practice

Ms. Pinkerton's diverse litigation practice has focused on the defense of civil actions, including professional malpractice; premises and products liability; employment practices and discrimination; sexual torts; commercial, personal and vehicular liability; and other tort and contract matters. She has tried numerous cases in state and federal courts. She has also provided employment counseling to individuals and organizations. 

Prior to graduating from law school, Ms. Pinkerton was a general litigation legal assistant at legacy Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering, where she worked on a variety of matters involving communications, transactions and products liability. She also assisted with two catastrophic Alaskan oil spill cases and a pro bono death penalty appeal in Virginia.  

Ms. Pinkerton is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and the state of Maryland, and before the United States Supreme Court, the United States District Courts for the District of Columbia and Maryland, the United States Courts of Appeals for the District of Columbia and the Fourth Circuits, and the United States Court of Veterans Appeals.

Professional Activities

From 2000 to 2006, Ms. Pinkerton served on the DC Court of Appeals Committee on Unauthorized Practice of Law, by appointment of the Chief Judge. She was an active member of the DC Defense Lawyers' Association and served as its president from 2002-2003. She has been a delegate to the DC Judicial Conference for several years. Ms. Pinkerton is a member of the Courts, Lawyers and Administration of Justice Section and the Injury to Persons and Property Section of the DC Bar. In 2005, she served on a committee that developed a proposal for standardized voir dire in DC Superior Court civil cases. Ms. Pinkerton is a member of the Women's Bar Association, having served on its Judicial Endorsements Committee. She also is a member of the Thurgood Marshall Inn of Court and The Barristers.
