With a compassionate focus and an eye towards the future, Aimee works with clients to skillfully assist them in identifying their goals and guide them towards a resolution in often complex and contentious family law matters. While many of her cases are aggressively litigated, Aimee's training in collaborative law ensures that client's priorities are defended, and that every step of the litigation is directed to reach that resolution in the most cost-effective and clear manner possible.
Having a Master's degree in social work provides Aimee with a unique ability to understand complex and novel custody issues and work with both clients and mental health professionals to identify what is at stake for the clients she represents. Whenever possible, she utilizes the collaborative process to craft a settlement that is more creative and personalized for her clients than is often obtained in a courtroom. Aimee uses the collaborative process as well as creative and personalized contractual agreements when working to resolve property and custody issues between same-sex couples whose marriages and relationships are not recognized by Texas courts at this time. Her compassion for families in crisis assures that she remains a tireless advocate for everyone she represents.
Aimee has been selected for inclusion in the list of Texas Monthly Rising Stars (Thomson Reuters) each year since 2006, a distinction bestowed upon a select number of attorneys each year based solely upon their nomination by their peers. Prior to practicing law, Aimee was the program director of a supervised visitation facility for families in Austin as well as an elementary school teacher with the non-profit program, Teach for America. She received her B.A. in Psychology with Honors, Masters of Science in Social Work with Honors and Juris Doctor from the University of Texas at Austin.
