Mr. Crown is a litigator with extensive trial and appellate experience in complex civil cases. His trial and appellate experience involves representing plaintiffs and defendants in wrongful death, personal injury, medical malpractice, products liability, professional malpractice, municipal civil rights, insurance bad faith, toxic tort and commercial litigation. Mr. Crown represents clients in all phases of litigation including jury trials, appeals, mediations and arbitrations.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Crown was the senior prosecuting attorney for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office for seven years. He had extensive trial experience including daily jury and bench trials and litigation of motions in cases involving capital and violent offenses, sex, narcotic, property and financial crimes.
Mr. Crown joined the firm in 1994 and became a partner in 1996.
Mr. Crown is a graduate of Arizona State University (B.S. 1978) and Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent (J.D. 1981).
Representative Engagements
- $875,000 Jury verdict (2009) on behalf of a father in a high profile case against State of Arizona Child Protective Services for the wrongful death of his daughter, which resulted from the neglect of her drug and alcohol defendant mother. This case resulted in the passing of Haley's Law which now requires CPS to obtain relevant background records from other states during its investigations of child abuse or neglect.
(Co-Counsel: Jorge Franco, Partner, Jennings, Haug & Cunningham) - $250,000 settlement (2009) against State of Arizona Child Protective Services on behalf of a mother for the wrongful death of her 5-year old son who was given a lethal dose of prescription SOMA while in the custody of his disturbed father in an attempted murder/suicide.
(Co-Counsel: Jorge Franco, Partner, Jennings, Haug & Cunningham) - Multi-million dollar verdict against the State of Arizona Child Protective Services in the wrongful death and severe beating of two sisters ages 3 and 20 months. Together with Jorge Franco, and with the assistance of paralegal Sheri Sadler, Mr. Crown and his trial team obtained the largest Arizona tort trial verdict in 2004 in this case.
