Hugo Pina is a managing partner at Garcia, Ramirez, Gonzalez & Pina. He focuses on all immigration matters as well as state and federal criminal defense. He was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley by hardworking parents from Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Prior to his current position, Mr. Pina was an Assistant District Attorney in Cameron County, Texas. As a prosecutor, he went to trial on many misdemeanor and felony cases.
Mr. Pina is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he majored in Political Science. As a college student he participated in the Ronald E. McNair Scholar's Program and was an intern at the Criminal Justice Clinic at Georgetown Law School in Washington D.C. He received his law degree from St. Mary's University where he was a student and research assistant at the St. Mary's Immigration Clinic under Lee Teran, one of the leading experts in the immigration field. After law school graduation, he went on to work as an Associate Attorney for Tidwell, Swaim & Associates in Dallas, Texas.
Currently, Mr. Pina supervises many cases arising out of the McAllen and Harlingen law offices. He represents his clients before the Immigration Courts, USCIS Harlingen District Office, County Courts, District Courts, and the U.S. Federal Courts. Mr. Pina also files appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Administrative Appeals Office, and the Texas 13th Court of Appeals.
