After graduating high school I joined the United States Marine Corps. I became a United States Marine because I wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself. After serving honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the first Gulf war, I attended San Francisco State University.
Being a lawyer provides the same fulfillment and camaraderie that the Marine Corps provided. There's nothing more important to a civilized society than the rule of law. I began my legal career as a client. In 2000 some friends and I came up with a business plan, sought and obtained venture capital funding and started a company. By the end of 2001, I found it necessary to obtain the advice of legal counsel regarding a company dispute. The matter resolved to my satisfaction in 2003. I found that I loved the discovery and litigation process. In 2003 I began working in a small law firm specializing in commercial litigation while attending law school full time. I thrived on the challenges presented by each case and was drawn to trial work.
Starting off as a client allows me a first-hand-perspective into what every new client faces; a daunting system layered with unfamiliar terms and jargon that seems to focus not on the issue's resolution, but the extension of conclusion. Because of my start, I am better able to inform the client and relate to the client as to exactly what is happening and what needs to happen in order to prevail.
In 2006 Mr. Walston and I began working closely together on various trials which were extremely successfully. We soon thereafter created our partnership. We have successfully tried cases against goliath companies like Chevron and prevailed. We have recovered millions of dollars for our clients. We pride ourselves on our ability to try any case. We prepare your case for trial on day one. That's how you get results, preparation, preparation, and preparation. There is no substitute. As a Marine, I fight for my clients like few other lawyers can or do. Come to talk to us and see the difference dedication makes. It's not just our job, it's who we are.
Orestes Cross earned his Juris Doctorate from Golden Gate University School of Law in December 2006. Mr. Cross is admitted to the State Bar of California and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California.
