Attorney Forkan received his Juris Doctor from John Marshall Law School. During his time as a student, Mr. Forkan clerked for the Cook County Public Defender and the Law Office of Joseph V. Roddy. Through these experiences he obtained a real working knowledge of civil and criminal legal proceedings, which helped him during his first years as an attorney.
After passing the Illinois State Bar Exam, Attorney Forkan worked at the Law Office of Joseph V. Roddy where he represented the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police. He also handled a variety of other civil matters ranging from real estate closings to personal injury cases.
Since starting his own legal practice, Attorney Forkan has worked extensively in the real estate arena, both in a transactional and litigation capacity. He works closely with his family, which is involved in residential and commercial real estate development. Through this, Mr. Forkan has made extensive contacts in the real estate industry and has gone on to represent many types of clients, from first-time homebuyers to veteran real estate developers.
Due to the economic happenings over the last few years, Mr. Forkan's practice has come to include a myriad of real estate litigation cases, including foreclosure defense, contract disputes, broker's commission disputes, mechanic's liens, and zoning and land use issues.
Outside of his legal practice, Attorney Forkan is a graduate of Monmouth College where he studied Environmental Science and Chemistry on a full tuition scholarship for Highland Bagpiping. He was a member of the Monmouth College Pipe Band and is still an avid bagpipe player. Mr. Forkan is a founding member of the City of Chicago Pipe Band and travels throughout the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. performing and competing against other "Grade One" pipe bands. Attorney Forkan is also an avid golfer and road cyclist.
