Thomas W. Flynn is Of Counsel to Wood, Herron & Evans and is involved in all aspects of the firm's intellectual property practice, with particular emphasis on litigation and licensing in patent, trademark and trade dress matters. Prior to becoming of Counsel to Wood, Herron & Evans, he was president of an intellectual property law firm in Dayton, Ohio.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of South Carolina and a Juris Doctor degree from The George Washington University Law School. Between engineering school and law school he served as a pilot in the United States Air Force. He is admitted to the Virginia Bar and the Ohio Bar, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
He has tried intellectual property cases in federal and state courts in this country and has argued appeals in the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and other federal appellate courts and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the Patent and Trademark Office. He has also supervised and participated in intellectual property litigation in several countries outside the United States and the European Patent Office.
He is a member of the American, Ohio State, Cincinnati and Dayton Bar Associations, the International Trademark Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Licensing Executives Society and has appeared as a speaker at national and international conventions of intellectual property law practitioners. He has consistently been listed in the publication "Best Lawyers In America" since its inception.
He was instrumental in founding the Lions Eye Bank of West Central Ohio and was its first Chairman.
