Crandall, Ryan Jeffery

Joe D. Floyd, Sr. was born in Thomasville, NC on February 24, 1930.  He is an Alumnus of Guilford College (1953) and earned his Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1964.  Before enrolling in Law School Mr. Floyd was a High School Coach and Teacher and served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict (1954-1956).  He is a former United States Probation and Parole Officer and a former Law Clerk to Federal Judge Johnson J. Hayes.

Mr. Floyd, Sr. was licensed and admitted to practice law in the North Carolina State Courts in 1965.

Mr. Floyd, Sr. started his legal career in 1965 in the general practice of law. In 1966 he ventured out on his own to start the Joe D. Floyd Law Firm.  In 1980 the very successful firm became the Joe D. Floyd, PA, Law Firm.  He has helped thousands of clients regarding everything from estate and domestic matters, juvenile proceedings, civil matters, worker’s compensation, to personal injury and especially criminal matters.  For over 45 years he has helped clients in traffic matters, DWI, misdemeanors and felonies in the District and Superior Courts of Guilford, Davidson and Randolph Countries.  Mr. Floyd, Sr. has concentrated in the area of criminal law for many years.

Mr. Floyd and his wife, Bonita Hayes Floyd, have been happily married since 1952.  They are the proud parents of Kimberly Hayes Floyd and Joseph D. Floyd, II, both attorneys in the Joe D. Floyd P.A. Law Firm.  They are grandparents to three wonderful boys.  They are active members of their community and Church, Green Street Baptist, where Mr. Floyd is a Deacon; Trustee; and former Sunday School Teacher, and serves on other Church committees.  He is the Church appointed delegate to the Baptist State Convention annually.  He is a member of the Board of Visitors at Guilford College and is an active member of the Presidential Board of Advisors at Campbell University for over the past 25 years.

Mr. Floyd is a member of the NC State Bar; NC Advocates for Justice; High Point Bar Assoc. (President, 1984 – ’85); and former member of the Guilford County Board of Elections.
