Terry D. Fisher is a native of Durham, North Carolina, and has resided in Durham all of his life. He attended the Durham City Schools and graduated from Durham High School in 1975. Mr. Fisher attended Duke University, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in History in 1979. He then obtained his Law Degree, with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1982. Upon graduation from Law School, Mr. Fisher joined the Durham law firm of Stubbs, Cole, Breedlove, Prentis, & Biggs, PLLC, becoming a partner in 1986.
While with the Stubbs Cole firm for 22 years, Mr. Fisher engaged in a law practice that included civil litigation in a wide range of practice areas, and represented a Durham-based bank in a wide range of matters, including collections, foreclosures, complex litigation and bankruptcy. Since the early 1980’s, Mr. Fisher has been appearing before the bankruptcy courts across the State of North Carolina.
At the beginning of 2005, Mr. Fisher left the Stubbs Cole firm to open a law practice concentrated in the representation of consumers and debtors in United States Bankruptcy Court. His many years representing creditors in bankruptcy, foreclosure and collection cases gives him unique insight into solving the financial problems of his consumer bankruptcy clients.
Mr. Fisher has more than 25 years of experience practicing bankruptcy law. He is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Durham County Bar, and he is admitted to practice before all State and Federal Courts in North Carolina. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
