Corbett, David M.

David was born in Wilmington, N.C., on August 15, 1960. He attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh and graduated magna cum laude in 1982. He then attended the University of North Carolina Law School at Chapel Hill, graduating in 1985. He was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in that year.

David is licensed to practice before all North Carolina State Courts, the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the Lenoir County Bar Association. In 2010 David was selected for membership to the American Trial Lawyers Association and named to its Top 100 Trial Lawyers of 2010. He was also included on the North Carolina Super Lawyers 2009 list.

He is past president of the Lenoir County Bar Association and the Eighth Judicial District Bar Association.

David played and lettered in football at North Carolina State University. He received the Earle Edwards Award established by Wilbert James “Nick” Carter for the varsity football letterman with the highest scholastic average at NCSU. In 2010, David was reelected to the Lenoir County Board of Education. He served as the board chairman from January 2009 through December 2010.

David's practice is concentrated in litigation with an emphasis on criminal, domestic and personal injury law.
