Mitch Fenton joined the firm in 2013 as counsel to the real estate department. Mitch has extensive experience in representing both lenders and developers.
He has represented developers in acquiring real estate, through purchasing the fee interests and/or air rights and in acquiring the ground lessee’s interest in various parcels of real estate. He has also been involved in developing and financing the properties through construction mortgage loans and mezzanine loans and in structuring the entities owning and/or leasing the properties. He was involved in helping the owners finance the Richard Meier building at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn and the New York Times building in Manhattan.
Mitch has also represented REITs, foreign, national and local banks, investment banks and hedge funds in making first mortgage loans (to be held or securitized) on both fee interests and leasehold interests on all types of properties and in making mezzanine loans. In this capacity he has also been involved in all aspects of workouts, including restructurings, modifications and bankruptcy.
