Ted Parsons practices in the area of intellectual property law, primarily in patent litigation. Ted's technical background focused on the areas of semiconductor chip design, operating systems, and network protocols and design. In practice, he has worked with these and other technologies, such as spinal and other surgical implants, high-density detergents, Web site design, plastics molding, and pumps.
His significant representations include: AcroMed Corporation v. Sofamor Danek Group, Inc. (N.D. Ohio 1999), where he assisted in the Firm's successful representation of AcroMed, obtaining a jury verdict of $52 million for infringement of AcroMed's patents on spinal implant technology. That verdict was affirmed at AcroMed Corporation v. Sofamor Danek Group, Inc., 253 F.3d 1371 (Fed. Cir. 2001).
He also helped the Firm obtain a jury verdict in Molten Metal Equipment Innovations, Inc. v. Metaullics Systems Co. (N.D. Ohio 2000) for infringement of MMEI's non-volute pump technology for molten metal pumps. Though the verdict was set aside following trial, it was reinstated by Molten Metal Equipment Innovations, Inc. v. Metaullics Systems Co., No. 01-1409 (Fed. Cir. January 30, 2003).
