Eric Columbus is counsel in the Litigation Department at WilmerHale. He joined the firm in 2003.
Practice
Mr. Columbus has a diverse practice encompassing appellate and trial-level litigation, agency proceedings, and arbitrations. He has extensive experience practicing before the United States Supreme Court, including both merits briefing and petitions for certiorari. In addition, Mr. Columbus has practiced before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes and has participated in a wide array of cases at the state and federal levels, with a particular emphasis on constitutional law. Mr. Columbus has significant experience in helping clients craft multi-pronged strategies involving the interplay of courts, agencies, and Congress. He also has extensive experience in pro bono representation, including substantial work in death penalty cases.
Prior to joining WilmerHale, Mr. Columbus served in all three branches of the federal government: as a counsel to Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. on the Senate Judiciary Committee, as a Bristow Fellow in the Office of the Solicitor General of the Department of Justice, and as a clerk to Judge Amalya L. Kearse of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
