Frank A. Comito was born in Des Moines, Iowa on July 8, 1939. In 1961, he graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology. He went on to receive his law degree in 1963 from Drake University Law School. Mr. Comito served in the Iowa National Guard from 1963 to 1995 where he advanced to the rank of Specialist Fourth Class before receiving a direct commission as a Lieutenant Commander. Mr. Comito's professional affiliations include the Iowa Bar Association and the Polk County Bar Association. In addition he is a member of the Iowa Defense Counsel Association and the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers. Mr. Comito's legal practice is in the area of civil trials and appeals in all courts of the state and federal system.
In 1982, Mr. Comito, as part of his private practice, was appointed as Ethic Counsel for the Iowa State Bar Association. In this capacity he was charged with the enforcement of the Disciplinary Rules and Ethical Standards for attorneys in the State of Iowa. Mr. Comito served in this capacity for approximately 2 years when he resigned due to the demands of his civil law practice.
Having practiced under the firm name of Frank A. Comito, P.C., he merged with the firm of Austin, Gaudineer, Austin, Salmons, Swanson & Hopkins in 1997 and the firm name was changed to Austin, Gaudineer & Comito.
