Rob Faxon has represented clients in various complex matters since joining Jones Day in 1992, including litigation involving corporate governance, Ohio's Control Share Acquisition Act, and business acquisitions. He has extensive experience in commercial litigation and in the defense of companies in class action, product liability, consumer fraud, and medical device litigation.
On behalf of clients involved in significant litigation, Rob has appeared in courts throughout the country, including federal multidistrict litigation, the Delaware Chancery Court, and other complex state and federal litigations. He has obtained seven and eight-figure recoveries on behalf of clients where sellers misrepresented the underlying condition of target companies. He and other Jones Day attorneys successfully defended Brush Wellman in a case involving workers at the Rocky Flats nuclear facility, which was recognized by The National Law Journal in its July 16, 2001 edition as "Verdict of the Week" and later as one of the "Top 2001 Defense Verdicts." Rob was also part of the trial team that successfully defended the Lincoln Electric Company in Los Angeles Superior Court against more than 20 cases filed following the 1994 Northridge earthquake, including the lead case tried where plaintiffs sought more than $800 million.
Rob is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, where he is trial counsel to the CMBA's Grievance Committee and prosecutes attorney misconduct before the Ohio Supreme Court. He frequently speaks on civil litigation procedure and developments and mentors Firm associates on trial skills.
