Timothy Coleman is a staff attorney in the Litigation Department. He joined the firm in 2007.
Practice
Mr. Coleman focuses his practice on issues of e-discovery. Specifically, he works with other attorneys, litigation technology project managers, and paralegals on teams that manage electronic and other documents in large cases and investigations. Attorneys on these teams take a leadership role in the document control process, systematically tracking documents from preservation to collection and through review and production. They work with e-discovery vendors and their review and analytical tools; review documents; train and oversee other firm and contract attorneys who review documents; and partner with project managers to perform production quality control.
Mr. Coleman has direct experience with a range of large litigations, including matters involving copyright infringement, mergers and acquisitions and antitrust investigations. He has acted as in-house counsel, coverage counsel and as a contract attorney for several large law firms in the New York area.
From 1996-2000, Mr. Coleman prepared Insurance Coverage Opinions for American International Group, Inc. (1996-1998) and Reliance National (2000). From 1998-1999, he was the Assistant Vice President of the Global Financial & Executive Risks Practice at Willis Corroon Corporation of New York, where he acted as in-house counsel, advising clients on claims handling, risk identification, loss prevention and mitigation. He also established and maintained a Claims management system and founded the Minority Business Unit to pursue middle market minority business.
Mr. Coleman was an associate in the New York City Housing Authority Law Department from 1993-1996 where he worked on litigation matters including contracts, employee discrimination and employee disability litigation.
