Duane L. Coker opened his family law office in Denton, Texas in 1998. He currently represents clients in family law and probate cases in Denton County, Texas and surrounding counties, including Dallas, Tarrant, and Collin Counties. The family law matters that he handles include divorce, child custody cases, and child support cases. For all of his family law cases, Duane represents clients in both Collaborative Law and contested litigation. In the Probate Court, Duane helps clients with probating Wills, guardianships, and other contested and non-contested matters.
Duane is a certified mediator and has successfully mediated dozens of divorce and family law cases.
He received his law degree from the Baylor University School of Law in 1992. He was admitted to the State Bar of Wisconsin in 1993 and to the State Bar of Texas in 1994. Duane practiced at Eisenberg, Weigel, Carlson, Blau and Clemens, one of the largest law firms in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from 1993-1994. He also worked in Washington D.C. for a member of the United States Congress.
Duane is a charter member of the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas, a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the current Treasurer of the Denton County Bar Association, a board member for the Denton County Alternative Dispute Program, a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas and a certified Ad Litem by the State Bar of Texas. Duane is also the past president of the Denton County Family Law Section of the Denton County Bar Association and a Senior Founding Fellow of the Texas College of Collaborative Law. Most recently, Duane was elected President of the Denton County Bar Association.
Duane has spoken at many local Continuing Legal Education course on family law, probate, and guardianship topics. He was recently selected as one of a panel of speakers chosen to open the 2010 Texas Marriage Dissolution Boot Camp Course in San Antonio, Texas.
Duane has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Central America, South America and the United States. Duane and his wife, Louellen, lived in South Korea, where Duane was the Head Instructor at Mido International Language School in Seoul.
