Ram F. Cogan is a principal at Phillips Lerner, A Law Corporation. Mr. Cogan has more than 25 years' experience practicing law and handles all aspects of family law matters, including the litigation of those disputes that escalate to trial. With extensive experience as a business litigator, Mr. Cogan integrates his broad knowledge of business law and trial strategies into the often complex intricacies in resolving family law disputes.
Admitted to practice law by the State Bar of California in 1987, Mr. Cogan is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court Central District, Northern and Southern Districts of California as well as the United States Court of Appeals 9th Circuit.
As a partner, including managing partner, with the Los Angeles law firm of Lindahl, Schnabel, Kardassakis & Beck, Mr. Cogan worked in various areas of law, including cases involving complex business disputes, professional liability, defamation, wrongful death and product liability.
Born in Israel, Mr. Cogan migrated to the United States in 1967, several months after the "Six-Day War." He is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law, where he received his J.D. in 1987. While at UCLA School of Law, Mr. Cogan was an editor for the prestigious UCLA Environmental Law Journal.
Mr. Cogan was named on the list of Southern California Super Lawyers in 2012 and 2013. He also regularly writes commentaries published bimonthly in California Family Law Monthly.
Mr. Cogan dedicates his spare time to several causes. He has volunteered with the Domestic Violence Project through the court in downtown Los Angeles since 2012, he is active in the firm's Adopt-A-Center program, and is also a founder, board member and executive committee member of the Beverly Hills Basketball League. Since its inception, in 1998, the league has grown from 400 players to 1,200 and includes participant's age kindergarten through high school.
