Coffman, Kyle B.

WILLIAM P. COBB, II, better known as Pete, is a partner in the firm's Montgomery office. Mr. Cobb's practice is primarily devoted to the defense of business, industrial and manufacturing clients, as well as public utilities and insurance companies, in cases involving claims of personal injury, wrongful death, defective products, workers' compensation, retaliatory discharge from employment and fraud. He also regularly advises local school boards on issues related to the hiring or discharge of employees, and frequently consults with industrial and utility clients in their efforts to improve the effectiveness of their public and employee safety programs. He has served as mediator in a wide variety of cases involving claims of civil liability for both compensatory and punitive damages, and has over twenty-four years' experience in both trial and appellate practice at every level of state and federal jurisprudence. Mr. Cobb has been named one of The Best Lawyers in America for workers' compensation practice every year since 1996.

Mr. Cobb has spoken and written on a variety of topics and issues related to civil trial practice. He co-authored Alabama Worker's Compensation Practice, 1994 Edition, has made numerous presentations on issues related to the law of workers' compensation and retaliatory discharge, and has served as an instructor at annual seminars focusing on the application of the National Electrical Safety Code in utility accident cases. He served as editor of Trials and Tribulations, the newsletter of the Trial Tactics and Techniques Committee of the Defense Research Institute in 2001-2002. Mr. Cobb served as law clerk to the Honorable L. Charles Wright, Presiding Judge of the Court of Civil Appeals of Alabama in 1980-81.
