Stefan Otterson has 20 years of experience dealing with children's issues, including custody, visitation, paternity, child support, education, special needs, mental health treatment, child abuse, termination of parental rights, adoption, guardianship and divorce. He is trained as a mediator and as a collaborative law practitioner.
Stefan Otterson worked until 1990 as a commercial attorney, and then became an assistant attorney general for the state of Alaska, representing the Division of Juvenile Justice, the Office of Children's Services, the Medicaid Division, the Division of Mental Health, and handled appeals for the Department of Public Safety. In 2000, (following a year traveling around the world), he set up a private practice focusing on child protection, adoption, and general family law, which continues to the present (after going through several structural incarnations.)
