Shawn Organ is a trial lawyer who has focused his practice on defending some of the nation's largest corporations in class actions and complex commercial disputes throughout the United States. His representations in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts have included defending Fortune 20 corporations in complex multidistrict litigation, securities class actions, ERISA class actions, derivative cases, and subprime class actions. Shawn also has conducted e-commerce compliance audits and advised clients regarding e-commerce best practices related to the FCRA, FACTA, COPPA, the W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative, and Section 5 of the FTC Act. These representations have led to several trials and multiple appearances before the Ohio Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Shawn's recent representations include working with the Chrysler team related to its bankruptcy and the confirmation of its sale to Fiat, as well as working with the Federal Guarantee Insurance Corporation (FGIC) in a $166 billion transaction with MBIA Inc. involving the reinsurance of certain policies covering FGIC's U.S. public finance insured par outstanding.
Shawn is the Columbus Office pro bono coordinator. He also taught trial advocacy at the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law for seven years and volunteered his time for four years to teach and mentor an inner city mock trial team for a national competition. Shawn serves on the Columbus Legal Aid's board of directors and in 2009 was named to Columbus C.E.O. magazine's list of "Top Lawyers."
