Mr. Chung received his B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine and his J.D. from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, California. During his legal education, Mr. Chung served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Alexander H. Williams III at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse where he was fortunate to observe, receive tutelage from and assist His Honor in the mediation of complex and highly contested cases being litigated in Superior Court.
Mr. Chung thereafter embarked on his legal career at a boutique law firm that focused almost exclusively business litigation and corporate matters, including governance, raising of capital, mergers and acquisitions, registering securities, as well as SEC reporting requirements. Since becoming a licensed attorney, Mr. Chung has continuously handled civil matters from filing to resolution.
The “Great Recession” of 2008 prompted Mr. Chung to shift his focus to civil litigation as the deterioration of capital markets adversely affected boutique securities firms. Mr. Chung joined an Orange County firm as an associate attorney, where he represented the interests of individuals and business ranging from landlord-tenant disputes, real property transactions, and general business litigation.
Seeking to return to Los Angeles, Mr. Chung was recruited by the principal of a business litigation law firm. Here, Mr. Chung handled a voluminous case load while also mentoring and supervising interns, staff, and junior associates. While Mr. Chung primarily handled business and employment litigation matters, Mr. Chung experienced his first criminal matter as a member of a defense team assembled in relation to the representation an alleged tipper in the federal government’s investigation of insider trading in relation to the hedge fund, Galleon Group, and the "professional consulting" firm, Primary Global Research, LLC. The client ultimately cooperated with the federal government and received no jail time.
Mr. Chung established his firm upon the bedrock principles of integrity, efficiency, and professionalism. Here, above all else, clients come first. The strategies designed and implemented for each matter, whether transaction or litigation, is unique to each case and client. No two cases or clients are alike. What matters to you is of utmost importance to us.
