Steve graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1983. He served as a Communications Officer in the United States Marine Corps until earning a Law degree from Washington University School of Law, St. Louis, in 1991. As a Marine Corps Judge Advocate from 1991 to 2003, Steve served as Senior Prosecutor, Senior Defense Counsel, Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, Legal Assistant Officer, and and Officer-in-Charge of several court-martial trial teams. Steve is a member of the North Carolina Bar, Mecklenburg County Bar, and Missouri Bar, and a member of the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. Steve was honored by the Mecklenburg County Bar Association as the Lawyer Referral Service Outstanding Panel Member for 2005/2006. This award is given each year to an attorney who has provided exemplary service to his clients.
