Jaime Choi's practice focuses on drafting and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patents in a wide range of technology areas. Jaime advises clients in fields that include medical devices such as hyperspectral imaging systems, linear accelerators for surgical X-ray generation, wound dressings, and ultrasound systems; micro- and nano-scale devices such as microfluidics, photonics, and nanotube-based memory; and "clean tech" such as solar cells and biofuels. Jaime's practice includes prelitigation and due diligence work, such as infringement, noninfringement, and invalidity analyses, as well as litigation support.
Before joining Jones Day, Jaime was a technology specialist in the Boston office of an international law firm. Prior to entering the intellectual property field, she was a graduate research assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she studied complex materials using ultrafast laser spectroscopy. She also interned at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where she studied self-assembling and other complex materials. Jaime is coauthor of several published journal articles and is a co-inventor on an issued patent (U.S. 7,387,027 to Choi et al.).
