Charbonneau, Michele M.

Rob's practice focuses on patent law. He has experience in U.S. and foreign patent prosecution in the areas of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and chemistry, including experience in small molecule pharmaceuticals, antisense therapeutics, and polymers. He also has experience in patent litigation involving pharmaceuticals and chiral compounds (Hatch-Waxman ANDA infringement context).

Rob's doctoral research focused on organic synthesis and carbohydrate chemistry, with the specific goals of elucidating the mechanism of fungal chitin synthase, the glycosyltransferase responsible for the biosynthesis of the fungal cell-wall, and of developing fluorescent chemosensors that rely on conformational restriction as a signaling mechanism.

While attending law school, Rob was a visiting assistant professor of chemistry at Seattle University, where he taught courses in organic chemistry and general chemistry.

Rob is a member of the American Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association, and the Pan Asian Lawyers of San Diego, where he serves as a member of the 2009 board of directors.
