In 2010, The Honorable Thomas M. Cecil retired as a judge from the Sacramento Superior Court after a distinguished career on the bench for almost twenty-two years. Judge Cecil served for two terms as the Presiding Judge of the Sacramento Superior Court and, just prior to his retirement, as the Supervising Judge of Family Law and Probate. Judge Cecil can assist you with all facets of family law, including support and custody litigation. He also offers his services as a mediator or private judge. Additionally, Judge Cecil has extensive experience with cases involving domestic violence and was responsible for establishing the dedicated domestic violence court in the Family Relations Court in Sacramento County.
Following graduation from law school, Judge Cecil worked for the California State Assembly and State Senate. He then worked in private practice handling general business and political matters until his appointment by Governor George Deukmejian as the Deputy Director and Chief Counsel of the California Department of Consumer Affairs (1983-89). Judge Cecil was then appointed to the bench in 1989.
