Mr. Carreon was born and raised in Orange County, California. He attended Harvard University where he lettered in three years of Varsity Football while also making Honor Roll. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology in 1981. He attended law school at UCLA graduating in 1984 as a member of the Moot Court and Trial Advocacy Honor Societies.
Over the past 25 years, Mr. Carreon has tried numerous cases in federal and superior courts of California and Arizona. Mr. Carreon is one of the founding partners of Mower, Carreon & Desai, LLP. He has focused on labor, wage and hour, warranty/product, lender fraud, unfair competition and unfair business practice class action litigation on behalf of consumers, employees and investment shareholders. His focus additionally extends to multiparty and individual actions in the areas of medical device/pharmaceutical defects, elder abuse, catastrophic injury, premises and products liability, medical and legal malpractice, toxic exposure, insurance bad faith and Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act.
Most recently, Mr. Carreon has focused his attention on workplace issues concerning California longshore workers and claims that they were not compensated for all hours worked. Litigation against international and national shipping entities including Pacific Maritime Association and its Member Companies resulted in related settlements for unpaid wages providing a recovery of over $28,000,000.00 for longshore workers. These were “cases of first impression on how California determines when an employee is “under the control of the employer” thus distinguishing compensable “hours worked” from non-compensable personal time. Other recent accomplishments include related settlements against E-trade Financial for over $7,200,000.00 for failure to pay overtime wages to loan officers and processors.
Mr. Carreon is currently a member of the State Bar of California, the Orange County Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and Consumer Attorneys of California. Mr. Carreon has lectured in the areas of trial tactics, consumer fraud, tort litigation, RICO and medical malpractice.
