Carrigan, Mary V.

Mr. Carren is the Chair of Laner, Muchin, Dombrow, Becker, Levin and Tominberg, Ltd.'s Employee Benefits Department. He has been engaged in the employee benefits practice since 1973. Prior to joining Laner, Muchin, Dombrow, Becker, Levin and Tominberg, Ltd. as the Chair of its Employee Benefits Department in 1994, Mr. Carren was a partner at Winston & Strawn where he represented publicly and privately held employers in diverse areas of employee benefits law. He previously served as a shareholder and director at Chadwell & Kayser, Ltd.

Mr. Carren has served employers in their design, development, funding and administration of various types of executive and deferred compensation programs, qualified and nonqualified pension, profit sharing, employee stock ownership, health, cafeteria, severance, vacation and other welfare plans. In addition to counseling clients with respect to tax and ERISA compliance, he provides assistance in dealing with the impact of COBRA, ADEA, ADA and FMLA upon benefit plans. He has authored articles on employee benefits issues and frequently speaks and leads discussions among employer groups, trade and bar associations, human resources personnel, and other benefits professionals.

Mr. Carren has been named one of the Leading Lawyers in Illinois for Employee Benefits Law, based on a statewide survey of lawyers. Leading Lawyers comprise less than 5% of all lawyers in the state.
