Burt Carnahan was one of the founding members of the firm and is now retired. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and educated in public schools in New York, Maryland and Alexandria, Louisiana. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.
Mr. Carnahan attended Louisiana State University Law School and graduated cum laude. He was an editor of the Louisiana Law Review and published two articles. He was elected to the Order of the Coif, which is the honorary society for top law school graduates.
Mr. Carnahan specialized in representing insurers involved in litigation. He was particularly active in defending "bad faith" and extracontractual claims and class action litigation of all types.
He was a member of the Defense Research Institute, the International Association of Defense Counsel and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. Mr. Carnahan spends time with his family, fly fishes, is active in his church and numerous civic organizations.
