Cantor, Donna M.

Kirby Fernando Canon is the proud son of a dedicated single-mother.  In 1997, he immigrated to the United States from the beautiful San Andres Islas, Colombia.  After receiving a full academic scholarship to UCLA, he received a B.A. in Political Science and International Development Studies from UCLA in 2006.  A law degree from UC Hastings College of the Law followed in 2010.  He has dedicated his legal career to representing workers in employment matters in state, federal and administrative proceedings.  Mr. Canon is bilingual in English and Spanish.
  
During his time as a student at UCLA and UC Hastings, Mr. Canon fiercely advocated for increased students rights, educational opportunity and access for low-income and traditionally underrepresented minorities.  At UC Hastings, he focused his time on civil rights, immigrant rights, asylum, international human rights and labor rights.  In the spring of 2010, he clerked for the Honorable Maria Elena James, Chief Magistrate Judge, United States District Court, Northern District of California.
 
From 2010 until 2012, Mr. Canon worked for the Law Offices of the California Rural Legal Assistance, Migrant Unit, in Fresno, California as a law graduate and attorney.  While there, he represented migrant farm workers in a variety of employment, labor, immigration and education matters.  He also represented the State Parent Advisory Council for migrant parents in issues affecting migrant education in California. 

Today, Mr. Canon focuses his practice on Civil Rights, sexual harassment, discrimination (race, pregnancy, age, disability, national origin, language, sexual orientation, indigenous identity, religious beliefs, gender and medical condition), wage and hour, wrongful termination, retaliation, whistleblower retaliation, defamation, libel & slander.  In his spare time, Mr. Canon is an avid soccer fan and enjoys cooking traditional dishes from around the world.

Mr. Canon is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA), California Employment Lawyers Association (CELA) and the National Lawyers Guild (NLG).
