Cantor, Daniel

Janet Canon is an attorney admitted to practice in both California and New York with hands on family law legal experience in both jurisdictions.  Her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a Specialization in Business Administration was earned at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and she earned her law degree at The George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C.

Since graduating from law school in 2004, Ms. Canon has practiced exclusively in the field of divorce and family law.  Her educational background in psychology has enabled her to sensitively and successfully resolve family issues without the need of the Courts participation.  She has also aggressively and persistently advocated for her clients in Court.  She has represented clients in Court regarding property division, child custody, support matters, modifications of custodial arrangements, guardianships and foster care adoptions.

Ms. Canon has been a fierce advocate for helping those in need. She has volunteered frequently with programs such as the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law and The Alliance for Children’s Rights.  Ms. Canon’s experiences at UCLA, and her intensive training working with autistic children furthered her desire to help others in need.  She has also involved herself in education regarding human rights causes.  She has attended the International Human Rights Law Program at The University of Oxford in England.  As a member of the Junior League of Los Angeles and Step Up, both non-profit organizations, she continues to commit to volunteering by helping children, women and families in the community.

The Los Angeles Superior Court has certified Ms. Canon as Minor’s Counsel.  She has worked as a mediator for the Courts Family & Divorce Mediation Center in Washington DC and has been trained in mediation in Washington DC, New York and California where she has worked closely with parties and attorneys to resolve their matters.  She has also been trained in collaborative law by Sacramento Collaborative Practice Group. 

Ms. Canon is a member of both the California Bar Association and the New York Bar Association. Additionally, she is a member of several associations including the Los Angeles Collaborative Family Law Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Barristers Pro Bono Committee, the Beverly Hills Bar Association, and the Asian Pacific American Bar Association.
