Calhoun, Joseph D.

Luis F. Calderon has represented clients throughout the criminal process from preliminary hearings to post-conviction motions in matters involving allegations of state and federal crimes. Mr. Calderon has also conducted numerous bench and jury trials on cases ranging from misdemeanors to life felonies. His criminal practice has involved representing defendants in a wide range of complex matters in federal and state courts.

Mr. Calderon received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Finance from the University of Florida, where he graduated with Highest Honors. He then pursued a career in law, graduating from the prestigious Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., with a Juris Doctorate Degree. During his time at Georgetown Law, he gained valuable experience working for both the United States Securities and Exchange Commission and the NASD in the areas of securities fraud and white collar crime.

Aside from being licensed to practice law in Florida's State Courts, and in the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida's Federal Courts, Mr. Calderon is also admitted to practice law in Washington, D.C. and New York. Before practicing law in Florida, Mr. Calderon worked on high profile criminal cases at the Washington D.C. Law Firm Williams & Connolly, LLP.

Upon relocating to Central Florida, Mr. Calderon accepted a position as an Assistant Public Defender in Orlando. It was in this capacity where he gained an understanding of the need for criminal representation in the Central Florida area. During his time at the Public Defender’s Office, he handled all types of criminal cases from misdemeanors to very serious felonies. His dedication and commitment to criminal defense also earned him a position working with the Major Crimes Division where he assisted in the representation of defendants facing Florida's death penalty.

As a private criminal defense attorney, Mr. Calderon now uses that same dedication and skill in representing individuals charged with crimes. He exclusively focuses his practice to Criminal Defense.

When Mr. Calderon is not in court, he is also very involved in making sure criminal defendants' have a level playing field. Mr. Calderon serves as a board member for the statewide Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and serves as President of the local organization, the Central Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He also serves as a legal analyst for Orlando's Local 6 News.
