In over 23 years as a lawyer, Ralph has handled a wide array of civil trials, settlements and deal-making transactions. He has defended and advised hundreds of lawyers and law firms in professional discipline and malpractice cases and compliance with professional obligations. He is a sought after mediator in tort, professional and business disputes.
A faculty member at the University of Wisconsin Law School since 1990, he teaches courses in lawyering skills, professional responsibility, the legal profession negotiation, mediation, and directs that law school's General Practice Skills Program.
Ralph conducts widely acclaimed negotiation training seminars and workshops throughout the United States and in foreign countries for bar associations, law firms, law schools and other professional groups. He is a frequent lecturer, author and consultant on topics of professional responsibility law, ethics and professionalism.
Ralph has been active for more than 15 years in Bar committees and other professional endeavors aimed at improving the quality of law practice and the lives of lawyers.
