Bill Cafaro, in addition to being admitted in New York, is also admitted to practice in California, Texas, and Maryland. He is on the Board of Directors of the New York State Trial Lawyers, and a member of the Labor Law Committee. He is also a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers. He received his B.S. degree in accounting from Fordham University and graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1979. After doing criminal defense work in California, he was an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County from 1981 through 1986, serving primarily in the Narcotics Bureau.
In 1986, he started his own practice in Jackson Heights, Queens. He has been in private practice doing plaintiff's negligence work since 1986, and also represents workers in overtime claim class actions and collective actions in the Federal Courts. He also litigates against banks in foreclosure matters.
He is admitted to practice before the Federal District Courts for the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, and the Central District of California He has argued appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, as well as before the Appellate Divisions for both the First and Second Departments. He is also fluent in Spanish, and is studying Chinese in his spare time.
