Matthew L. Butler was born in Fort Worth, Texas and was raised in Waco, Texas. He attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where he received his B.B.A in High Performance Management and finished with a M.S. in Health, Exercise and Sports Sciences in 2004. Matt graduated from Texas Tech School of Law, Texas in May 2010 with a Doctorate of Jurisprudence.

Matt worked as an Intern with the West Texas Regional Public Defender for Capital Cases in Lubbock, Texas from September 2008 - May 2009. He also interned with the Federal Public Defender, N.D. Texas, Lubbock Office from May 2009-July 2009. From January 2011 until September 2011, Matt worked as a Prosecutor for the City of Irving, Texas City Attorney's Office in Municipal Court. Matt handles Municipal Court for several of the firm's clients. In addition, Matt assists with all of the firm's general municipal clients including general counsel and litigation matters.
