Buting, Jerome F

Robert Burstein is counsel in Wiggin and Dana's Corporate Practice Department and is based in the firm's Philadelphia office. Bob is experienced in general corporate and commercial transactions, representing clients in connection with business formation, corporate governance, licensing, vendor agreements, and other business and corporate matters. Bob's practice includes a focus on the business, regulatory and transactional aspects of franchising and distribution. Bob provides day-to-day business counseling and assists clients in forming, developing, acquiring and modifying franchise systems, complying with regulations, drafting franchise agreements, disclosure documents and related materials, addressing disputes, reviewing distribution arrangements for "hidden franchise" issues, and negotiating transactions. Bob is a member of the firm's Franchise and Distribution Practice Group.

Before coming to Wiggin and Dana, Bob worked at a Boston firm where he represented both mature and emerging growth companies in the areas of debt and equity financings, mergers, acquisitions, strategic alliances, licensing, and corporate governance. Bob's experience also includes seven years working as in house counsel for Doctor's Associates Inc., the franchisor of Subway restaurants.

Bob received his B.S. summa cum laude from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and the varsity track and field team. He received his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar each year and Financial Editor of the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law. Bob is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York.
