Timothy Burns is a partner in the firm's Litigation practice. He advises clients on all aspects of directors’ and officers’ (D&O) insurance and corporate indemnification, including counseling them with respect to the D&O insurance and corporate indemnification aspects of securities and derivative litigation, initial public offerings, spin-offs, mergers and acquisitions, and bankruptcies. He has represented two of the country’s five largest Fortune 500 companies and numerous other Fortune 500 and smaller companies with respect to D&O insurance matters. Timothy's practice also includes representing corporate policyholders in their disputes with their insurance carriers. He has represented major policyholders in insurance coverage litigation since 1992.

Timothy lectures and writes frequently on insurance coverage issues. He is the co-author of a major book on directors’ and officers’ liability and insurance and has spoken numerous times on D&O insurance at Stanford’s Directors College and at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business/Stanford Law School/The Wharton School Directors’ Consortium. In addition, he has served as a managing editor of Coverage, the journal of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation, and as a member of the Board of Editors of the Insurance Coverage Law Bulletin (American Lawyer Media) and The Journal of Insurance Coverage.
