Ryan Burns joined Marshall Dennehey in 2008 and is an associate with the firm's SIU Department and Casualty Department. He also devotes a considerable portion of his practice to general PIP litigation and insurance coverage matters. He has handled several hundred PIP cases and represented numerous insurers in PIP related matters. Ryan's casualty practice covers a wide array of areas, particularly negligent security, products liability, premises liability, and automobile liability. His PIP practice has covered nearly every aspect of the field, from pre-suit coverage and investigative practices to appellate work. He has also argued before the Fourth District Court of Appeal and worked on appeals in the Third and Fourth DCAs.
Ryan was previously an Assistant State Attorney with the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. There he prosecuted a wide variety of crimes including DUIs, narcotics trafficking, white collar crime, lewd sexual batteries, aggravated batteries, armed robberies and burglaries, and insurance fraud.
As a law student at Indiana University of Bloomington, Ryan was active in all phases of litigation education including being a Moot Court finalist, a member of the school's Moot Court Competition Team, and a member of the school's trial competition team. Additionally, Ryan made the Dean's List and graduated cum laude.
Ryan has tried over a dozen criminal jury trials to verdict in his career as a prosecutor and has civil jury trial experience as well.
