Larry N. Burch, is a successful trial attorney and former U.S. Naval Officer. During the past 20 years, Mr. Burch has represented clients in cases involving medical negligence, family law, criminal matters, corporate and business litigation as well as military matters. He has been interviewed by Fox News and WUSA-TV as a result of his experience in military legal issues.

In 1991, Mr. Burch graduated from one of the nation’s top law schools (where he was a member of the Iowa Law Review and The Moot Court Board). (He is also an alumni of The University of Maryland.) After completing law school, Mr. Burch was selected to serve as a Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Audrey Melbourne in The Circuit Court for Prince George’s County, Maryland. Working as a law clerk, he wrote opinions on important legal issues before the Court.

Following his judicial clerkship, Mr. Burch served as an attorney in the Navy’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 1992 to 1996 (and as a Navy Reserve Officer from 1996 to 2007). During his active duty military service, he was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his outstanding work as a trial attorney. He successfully defended clients accused of rape, espionage, fraud, assault, gun-running, and numerous other crimes. His Commanding Officer wrote as part of his Navy Commendation Medal: Mr. Burch “is a tenacious litigator who unfailingly seeks out every possible advantage for his clients.”

Several of his military cases received nationwide media attention; including a case involving an officer who challenged the Navy’s policy of excluding homosexuals from the service. Mr. Burch was appointed Senior Defense Counsel for the Navy’s trial defense attorneys in Washington, D.C. He also served as Department Head for the Navy’s Legal Assistance offices in the D.C. area. (Assisting sailors and their dependants with family law and other issues).

After leaving active duty in 1996, Mr. Burch began a solo practice (although he continued to serve as a Navy reserve officer providing legal assistance at the National Naval Medical Center). In 1999, he began a partnership called, The Law Office of Burch & Burch-Rates in Greenbelt, Maryland. As a civilian attorney, he has successfully represented clients in a wide variety of legal matters; including, medical malpractice, auto accidents, divorce and child custody, civil rights, wills, criminal defense, as well as corporate and military clients.

In 2007, he joined Rushern Baker as a partner in The Law Office of Baker & Burch in Greenbelt, MD. After Mr. Baker’s successful election to County Executive for Prince George’s County, he and Ronald Voss formed The Burch Law Firm, LLC, (also located in Greenbelt).

The Burch Law Firm, LLC continues to represent individuals and businesses in personal injury, family law, criminal, military and other legal matters in Maryland and D.C. Over the past decade, Mr. Burch has received several large jury awards and settlements on behalf of his clients. Last year, Mr. Burch obtained a settlement in excess of one million dollars for a woman left paralyzed as a result of medical malpractice.

He is admitted to practice law in Maryland, the District of Columbia, in the U.S. District Court, before the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and is qualified to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.
