Ashley Burgess is a member of the Business, Finance and Real Estate Practice Group. He concentrates his practice on business formation and transactions, as well as business litigation, representing individuals and businesses before judges and juries in state and federal courts across the Commonwealth.
Ashley's experience includes business entity formation, acquisitions, shareholder disputes, creditor's rights and commercial collections, protection of creditor claims in bankruptcy, lien enforcement, consumer protection and fraud claims, landlord tenant cases, estate disputes, real estate contests, breach of contract actions, and complex torts.

Ashley has conducted lectures and presentations before trade groups and in-house seminars for corporate clients on such topics as the anatomy of a civil lawsuit, insurance law and commercial collections.
Ashley worked as a law clerk with Sands Anderson during the Summer of 2003 and joined the firm directly from law school. His experience also includes a clerkship with the Pennsylvania Governor's Office of General Counsel, as well as serving as an intern under The Honorable Gary A. Hicks of the Circuit Court for the County of Henrico, Virginia.
Ashley graduated from the George Mason University School of Law, where he was Research Editor of the George Mason Civil Rights Law Journal. He is a 1999 graduate of James Madison University, earning his B.S., magna cum laude. Ashley hails from Northumberland County in the Northern Neck of Virginia. Ashley was listed in Super Lawyers of Virginia, 2010 edition as a Rising Star-Business/Corporate.
